GIVEAWAY: The Conjuring

| July 16, 2013

Words by Jo McTavish

The horror genre has unfortunately been quite vacant when it comes to delivering decent scares or shock value in recent times. Lucky for us, we have Australian-trained director James Wan who has not given up on the idea of originality and providing us with an out-of-your-seat scare. Since his debut with Saw (2004), Wan has handed out some quality screams that have really added value and kept the genre kicking. Dead Silence (2007) and Insidious (2010), his other two major films, have injected some creepy stories into the vacant block of scares, but I really don’t think they are anything to match his latest, The Conjuring. I am terribly excited and at the same time shit scared to see this film ever since I heard about it.

With the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) giving the film an R rating (ad consequently begin definite with their decision), I don’t think this is going to be just another horror film. Here’s the synopsis:

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

The film stars Vera Farmiga as Lorraine Warren, Patrick Wilson as Ed Warren, Lili Taylor as Carolyn Perron, and Joey King as Christine.

As much as this is going to be a complete scare, we are guilty of excitement and want you to enjoy the terrifying experience too.
