MUMBAI– known for housing over 20 million people, heritage buildings, and as the entertainment capital of India is also home to exquisite boutique, Le Mill.

First opening in 2011, Le Mill is a platform for individuality in modern India, supporting local Indian designers as well as some of the best in European fashion, furniture, and homewares.

The three dedicated co-founders, Cecilia Morelli Parikh, Julie Leymarie, and Aurélie de Cort are all heavyweights in the fashion industry; among the trio, they’ve worked for luxury companies such as Hermes, Armani, and L’Oreal to name a few. All three women moved to India to help nurture these international labels in the ever expanding Indian market, then joined their expertise to create Le Mill…. Pure genius!

It clearly is working out for them, as the boutique has been featured in Vogue, Marie Claire, and Harpers Bazaar on multiple occasions since opening in 2011, although I’m sure their connections certainly have helped!

Le Mill choose their designers on the basis that they have some sort of individual sartorial identity, and fit with modern India’s taste. Some of the designers who have made the cut are also some of my personal favourites – The Row, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Peter Pilotto, and Erdem. Among these brands sits some of the most exquisite and unique collections that India has to offer. The ladies really have a knack for choosing a great print!

Their choice of designers is something that cannot be ignored, and may well be the reason many women shop in this particular boutique. The Row was started in 2008 by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who in 2012 won Womenswear Designers of the Year for their emphasis on relaxed tailoring, luxury fabrics, and timeless elegance.

It’s pretty damn obvious why Peter Pilotto’s beautiful designs are stocked at Le Mill – it’s all about the print. The head designers at Peter Pilotto have a shared love of science and nature, which translates onto their garments through bold digital prints and explosions of petrol-bright colours.

Here are my picks from Le Mill:

Glitter Bug Clutch by Mawi

Clarise Floor Length Dress by Erdem

Janina Purple Iris Playsuit by Saloni

If you’ve got some serious dollars to spend for something beautiful, edgy, and a whole lot of unique, head to Le Mill online or if you find yourself in the colourful, bustling districts of Mumbai, make sure you take a stroll to their store in Breach Candy or Wadi Bunder. A deluxe shopping immersion not to be missed!
