IT has been nearly a decade since the last live action Star Wars film hit the silver screen, and today we finally get our first look at the brand new trailer from acclaimed director J.J. Abrams, in the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Since George Lucas sold the rights to Disney, there has been much speculation to what they would do to the franchise. When they hired J.J. Abrams to take over, you knew it was in good hands as he did a brilliant job of remaking the Star Trek series. The seventh chapter in the series takes place 30 years after of Return of the Jedi (1983), with the defeat of the Empire and Darth Vadar, it brings back many of the original cast and a completely new age of characters.
Just like any “Abram’s’ film there is little known about the story, but what we do know is there will be a new rise of Jedi and a new side to the dark side of the force. The trailer is absolutely epic and combines great CGI with strong live action, a nod to the original series by George Lucas. So far we only see Daisy Ridley who is dressed like Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi, Oscar Isaac as a classic Rebel pilot and John Boyega in a Storm Trooper outfit. There is glimpse of the sith, with an epic new light saber who could very well be Adam Driver who is rumoured to be a new Sith, and then there is the Millennium Falcon. As for the voice over, I am not quiet sure who it is but I would like to think it is Max von Sydow, who could be the new Sith Lord.
The cast brings back Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhem (Chewbacca), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and Mark Hamill. Joining them is members Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow.
Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens will be released Christmas 2015, so until then make sure you keep an eye out for more information, as this is only the beginning to what is to come.
