IN a forever changing world there are many elements that form our curiosities in an ideal life of style. Here at Moustache Magazine, we have searched in the effort to present you with a premium and alternative guide to the best places to eat, shop and visit. Explore the world with us, and together we can transcend with what we call “The BLACLIST”.
Melbourne is home to some of the most electric, supportive and cultural events of the nation. To coincide with our latest journey, we positioned ourselves in South Yarra and had the pleasure of staying at the boutique hotel the South Yarra Grand.
The hotel belongs to one of Australia’s most unique brands, Punthill Appartments Hotels who over time have positioned themselves in 13 thriving locations across Melbourne and Brisbane. Their design, amenities and locations have put them on many travellers’ radars, making them a premium and affordable choice when visiting these two cities.
Arriving at the South Yarra Grand was simple, either an Uber or train is the easiest way. We were greeted with exceptional customer service and where even more impressed with our room. The studio was designed to cater to several needs, the bedroom was massive with enough space for all your Melbourne buys, a bathroom for two, a fully equipped kitchenette, a living room for those quiet nights and a balcony to take in the view, with a cheeky wine.
If you enjoy keeping it closer to home, you can enjoy a work out in the gymnasium or relax in the spa. Take a short walk to the Royal Botanic Gardens, or enjoy the fresh produce from Prahran Markets for simple and delicious night in cooking.
Although staying close would be more than enough, our stay had us out and about exploring. To eat there are great near by joints such as Brother Burger, Caffe’e Cucina or Thirty Eight Chairs (for your Italy desires), Drugstore Espresso, Lucky Penny or The Sweetwater Inn, which is tucked away behind the Jam Factory. The list is endless but it goes without saying, you will be fully looked after whilst in South Yarra.
Yes, food and Drink is not always on our minds, so a little bit of shopping is always required. Jump on a train or tram and find yourself in the city in no time. Our favourite spots included Assin located on Little Collins Street. This progressive store hosts some of Europe’s most prestige labels, their sister store Eastern Market also located on Little Collins Street is for anyone who appreciates a unique look.
Other gems down there are New Zealand brand Zambesi which is located on Flinders Lane, their collections are bold, unique and integrate strong cuts for the body. Etal was the last store we had to make some purchases from, the store is full of black, white and grey. Everything is oversized and for the darker lover of fashion. They are also located on Flinder Lane.
The best part of the South Yarra Grand is its central location, centred around a fine area that boasts decadence, cultural celebration and an energetic part of Melbourne that is a must visit. So when you’re thinking of visiting Melbourne next, make sure you consider this hotel as you will not be disappointed.
