IT was nearly a year ago when we first were teased with footage from the latest Star Wars film. Now finally after limited access, rumours, speculation and hunger, Disney and J.J. Abrams give us the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

I know most of you just like me have been waiting for this day, and even if you’re not a devoted fan you just cannot resist. The seventh episode of the Star Wars saga has been a trending topic since it was announced, but the brilliance behind it all was not what we have, it’s what we don’t have yet.

J.J. Abrams, Disney and Lucas Film have been very protective with this film and it has paid off. It has to be the best marketing for any film in more than a decade, and one that has kept everyone talking.

Finally, in the latest trailer we seem more of Rey (Daisy Ridley), we finally here Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o) and see Finn (John Boyega) in confusion of his place in the galaxy.

More importantly Kylo Renn (Adam Driver) finally speaks for the first time post the action toy voices and we see Poe Dameron (Oscar Issac) in action. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) also have an appearance. I have been a devoted fan of this series since I can remember, I still have all my collectibles (the last ones standing) and have been invested into every rumour possible. The puzzle now seems clearer but there is still so much more mystery.

We know the light has awakened, the return of the Sith is inevitable but the big missing piece is who is Supreme Leader Snoke?

Only time will tell, but for now enjoy the new trailer (while shedding some tears), appreciate the new poster and get ready Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The film stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk are producing with Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by J.J. Abrams & Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas 17 December, 2015
