IT finally happened – Sephora Australia has blessed beauty addicts nation-wide by its arrival online! The change comes as the beauty giant made the next big move after its purchase of Luxola back in July of this year. But Australians want more: with only two street stores at present (both in Sydney) and one set to open in Melbourne this month, the news that we’ve all been waiting for comes as the answer to many prayers and questions by Sephora fans all over Australia, but at what cost?

Sephora Australia’s original opening back in December 2014 sparked some controversy regarding the prices of products. When analysts took the prices of particular products from Sephora U.S., converted it to Australian Dollars and factored in shipping and importation costs, many of the products still had a mark-up of anywhere from 40-60% in comparison.

Now, it’d be incredibly naive to expect a company not to think of money first and maximise profit, but it’s also helpful for us to know we can still access the same products, only cheaper, by using postage services such as ShopMate (with Australia Post). Paying for goods overseas and adding some shipping will end up saving you more money than if you were to buy them here on our own home soil. It’s a shame, really, that Sephora Australia saw fit to sell cult brands at exorbitant prices; they’re probably betting we love the products so much we’ll buy them anyway.

…And who are we kidding? With a brand list boasting long awaited favourites such as Tarte, BECCA, Kat Von D, Koh Gen Do, Make Up For Ever (and LOADS more), who can resist?

Oh, and what’s that? As of today they have Anastasia Beverly Hills in stock online!? Excuse us while we empty our purses… Happy shopping!
