THIS evening we celebrated all things fashion, as the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival opened by showcasing the latest trends presented by David Jones…

In association with Vogue Australia, the two power houses delivered a fantastic level of style which complemented the demand for information from consumers for online and instore.

For someone who never has shared an interest in commercial fashion, I was surprised by the quality and innovation by what was presented.

The night opened with Australian Royalty Romance Was Born, and followed with a bold line-up including; Manning Cartel, Jac + Jack, Bassike, Ksubi, Alexander Wang, Paul Smith, Dion Lee, Strateus Carlucci, Ellery and many more.

Each designer presented a beautiful collection, with intricate cuts, flow, sophistication and relevance towards the Australian climate.

Alongside the designers, were a bold choice in models that celebrated the calibre of industry here, attracting international audiences.

The models who walked included former Victoria’s Secret model Erin Wasson, David Jones newest ambassador Jesinta Campbell, Montana Cox and Samantha Harris. Alongside them was a unique display of up and coming models who all together completed and made the show.

Overall it was a great display of Australian fashion, and proved that although our industry is fairly conservative there are still creative minds out there reaching for new heights.
