What is the LG StanbyME TV?
This is one of the most unusual TVs currently on the market, and there are plenty of unusual TVs to compete with right now. The TV is modest in size, 27 inches, but more than enough for most people. The TV runs on battery power, making it ultra-portable (except when it's charging and plugged into the wall, of course).
The sleek stand is what really makes the TV stand out from the rest, along with a rolling stand. The LG StanbyME is more than an oversized tablet on a stylish stand, however, since it can be connected to consoles or smart boxes thanks to its HDMI port. The TV is priced at $999 (R17,259.22 depending on exchange rate, and in-store prices may vary).
The screen can be used in portrait or landscape mode and is, as mentioned, a touchscreen. It comes with a remote control, but it also has three rubberized buttons on the back of the screen for quick control of power and volume (up and down). It can also be controlled with the LG ThinQ mobile app, easily from your phone.
The strong points
The LG StanbyME is a well-designed stand that has many benefits, putting it in a league of its own. The stand is tastefully designed and has a small footprint compared to many other huge, unwieldy TV stands with ugly wheels. The stand is much more stylish and practical than most others. It can be assembled easily in just a few steps and its wheels are hidden, making it look very nice in a room. Be aware that the wheels are not locked, which means children and pets will be able to move it around a bit.
There are many great applications for a mobile TV, such as a bedside or sofa screen for people with limited mobility or in a home that doesn't have room for a TV.

The weak spots
The TV doesn't have the best resolution you could get for the same price, nor does it have the best viewing angles. The screen is just a 1080p 60Hz IPS panel, but it supports HDR, which makes it look much nicer than you might expect given the specs (it supports HDR). HDR 10 and HLG).
Due to the way it is mounted on the bracket, this is the only way to mount it. If you decided to try to remove it from the stand, it would not be able to stand up on its own.
Unfortunately, it doesn't have many options when it comes to ports. It only has one HDMI 1.4 port and a single USB-A 2.0 port. This is a step up from most tablets that only have a USB C port but don't offer many options. A person could use a mouse and keyboard that have a common USB port to control both and have a console plugged in, but no more than that (standard TVs have at least two of each).
You would think that being battery powered would be an advantage due to portability, but unfortunately the TV's battery is of a suspiciously low capacity. It is only 5,000mAh 74Wh. It's not the worst, but I have a power bank that is four times more powerful than this one, so not very impressive at all.
If you need a stylish and portable touchscreen in your life, the LG StanbyME is definitely the new device for you. Although it may not be the best, it has many benefits that suit a minimalist lifestyle.
