One of the many things that potential viewers loved about the upcoming Barbie movie was that almost everyone in the cast was either a Barbie or a Ken, and they were all named Barbie and Ken . If that doesn't make you feel like a kid again, I don't know what will. Although the cast was made up of amazing actors, Margot Robbie (who plays the lead role of Barbie) wanted one actress in particular on the roster, and that actress was one of her DCEU co-stars.

So many Barbies in Barbie
Barbie (2023) boasts a wonderful cast of actors and actresses, all playing different roles. Yet most of them are Barbies and Kens. The list of incredible Barbies includes Alexandra Shipp, Ana Cruz Kayne, Dua Lipa, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Margot Robbie, Nicola Coughlan, Ritu Arya and Sharon Rooney.
While many liked the idea of each actress being a different version of Barbie, some wondered why they weren't all given a name like Emerald Fennell's character Midge. Greta Gerwig responded that the idea of having multiple Barbies came from Mattel when she was on tour with them.
Gerwig noticed that while Barbie tends to have friends and family, like Midge, Christie and her little sisters, most of the toys in the line are named after Barbie. She decided to perpetuate this state of affairs, mentioning that she found it philosophically interesting because not only was it about Barbie, but “Barbie is everyone.”

Margot Robbie wanted one more Barbie for the Barbie movie

The Barbie movie was released today in most countries, and as fans flock to watch the film, the cast and directors can finally share some of the behind-the-scenes secrets they've been keeping since filming began.
Few people know that Margot Robbie was the “main” Barbie in the film, but that she was also a producer, and therefore had a say in certain suggestions and choices.
One of Margot Robbie's requests, which unfortunately never got resolved, was for one of her DCEU co-stars to join her on the set of Barbie. This co-star is none other than Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot.

Gal Gadot has been the face of Wonder Woman since her standalone film in June 2017, a few months before she returned for an appearance in Justice League in November of that year.
Margot Robbie shared in an interview with Vogue that she wanted Gal Gadot to be in the Barbie movie because she “is Barbie energy.”
“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Gal Gadot is so incredibly beautiful that you don't hate her because she's so sincere and so sweetly enthusiastic that it's almost corny. It's like right before be an asshole.”
Although Gadot would have liked to be part of it, there were scheduling issues and she was unavailable. However, on her Instagram Story, she shared that she's “in for the next one, sis!”, so let's hope Greta Gerwig decides to take another adventure to Barbieland, and Gadot can be the super Barbie heroin.
