NetherRealm announces an exciting new role-playing game for Mortal Kombat.

NetherRealm annonce un nouveau jeu de rôle passionnant pour Mortal Kombat.

The Mortal Kombat series is one of the most famous fighting games ever created. So far, the series has 11 games and fans are eagerly awaiting news about the next game, although NeatherRealms Studios, the group behind the popular fighting game, has been relatively quiet lately. Luckily, they just revealed their next project, Mortal Kombat Onslaught, a new mobile RPG game.

While no other projects have been confirmed in a while, NeatherRealm Studios has just revealed Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, a mobile exclusive role-playing game that will arrive on platforms in 2023. This game, unlike its relatively boring predecessor, will be entirely story-driven and will be a role-playing game, whereas most of the Mortal Kombat series has been about figuring out who turns out to be the best fighter.

Mortal Kombat Onslaught (which has its own story) will see players build their roster of characters to use in real-time group fights with other players. The announcement came in the form of the release of some key artwork and the official title of the game. Unfortunately, nothing else was shared – no gameplay or even a trailer.

Onslaught's main art shows some of Mortal Kombat's favorite characters, like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Shao Kahn, Kitana, Jade, and Raiden, as they appeared in Mortal Kombat 11, as well as Shinnok and Quan Chi who , unfortunately, were not included in the 2019 version.

NeatherRealm Mobile Pursuits

NeatherRealm Studios is no stranger to the mobile gaming industry and has helped create Batman: Arkham City Lockdown, WWE Immortals, the iOS and Android versions of Batman: Arkham Origins, and a mobile version of Mortal Kombat , Mortal Kombat Mobile. Released around the same time as Mortal Kombat

It looks like they are now working on a new mobile version that will be completely different from its combat-focused predecessor. Hopefully Mortal Kombat Onslaught will do a better job than previous versions.

NeatherRealm's next game

Although NeatherRealm Studios hasn't officially commented on what's coming from the company, co-creator Ed Boon said the team is working on several titles at the moment, but hasn't confirmed which ones. There are many signs that a full Mortal Kombat game will be next on the list. This was reported by insider Jeff Grubb in August 2021, who said the company was prioritizing Mortal Kombat 12.

There was a momentary leak when an employee apparently showed files that looked like they could be related to the fighting series, but the desktop images were quickly deleted after being posted. Another indication is a video posted to Johny Cage's voice actor's Instagram, showing him on the Warner Bros. lot. with game-inspired music playing in the background, but that too was quickly removed.

Although everyone thought that Mortal Kombat 12 would be the next game to release, it seems that NeatherRealm has something a little different ready. Their new MK RPG game, Mortal Kombat Onslaught, will be released in 2023.
