Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas have formed an alliance bringing forth a new design house Y-3. Showing their latest collection at New York Fashion Week.

Inspired by darkness and the shadows it brings Yohji isn’t your typical fashion enthusiast he really isn’t interested in fashion itself but what you can create from the manipulation of fabric. Considered to be a master tailor the Japanese designer is based between Tokyo and Paris.

The collection showed sports-luxe with fine tailoring for both men and women. Within the monochromatic hue of black featuring pieces of grey white with touches of green and blue.  The iconic stripes of adidas were featured in almost every look tying in the two collaborations nicely.

‘Ten years ago, together with Adidas we created something that did not exist before and completely projected the future. My desire was and is to make sportswear elegant and chic. Adidas is a very personal inspiration to me… it enriches my creative life” Yohji Yamamoto.
