MM: WHO are you?
KW: My name is Kayle Whitham and I’m a graphic designer/illustrator and artist from Melbourne, Australia.

WHAT the hell is your work about?
I would say at the moment it’s about exploring the possibilities of creating alternative environments and realities through the juxtaposition of varying art and design periods, cultures, sub-cultures, and mass media images.

WHEN did you realise you were in tune with the right side of your brain?
My parents encouraged my sister and I to create from an early age, but I started becoming conscious of composition, art, and design aesthetics and trends, typography, colour palettes etc. when I was about 15.

WHERE do you draw inspiration from?
I’m currently in Nepal and at the moment I’ve been really taken by the colour palettes of a lot of the Buddhist artworks I’ve seen. I’m also inspired by most artists with a strong graphic aesthetic, my environment, surrealism, and many other things.

WHY do you create?
Compelled to.

HOW does the magic happen – creative process of candid creativity?
My creative process tends to vary so I can’t really give you a straight answer there.

Plans for 2014?
I’ve got three exhibitions already lined up, plus plenty of design and illustration work on so it’s hopefully going to be another busy year which is always good.

So we can stay in the loop, what’s your dot com(s)?
